    Job Summary:  Responsible for cleaning, assembling and sterilizing all instruments and equipment for all areas of Anderson Surgery and Treatment Center.  Responsible for supply management and cleaning of the areas that they work in.

    Qualifications

    Job Responsibilities:

    1. Demonstrates knowledge in clinical care and procedures in the responsible department.
    2. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, assembling and sterilizing all instruments and equipment for all patient care areas of Anderson Surgery and Treatment Center.
    3. Retrieve all supplies and equipment as needed from patient care areas and return to Sterile Processing.
    4. Operate cleaning and sterilization equipment in the department according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
    5. Maintains records of all sterilization of instrumentation and processing of endoscopes.
    6. Shares knowledge and skills with departmental staff and others, acting as a role model/mentor.
    7. Effectively communicates, both written and verbal, with co-workers.
    8. Receives and maintains supplies within the surgery center.
    9. Cleans the department as needed. 
    10. Other duties may be assigned by the Sterile Processing Lead or Surgery Center Director as necessary to facilitate the functions of Anderson Surgery Center. Work hours or shifts may be changed as necessary in order to provide adequate staffing for the department.

     

    Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

     

                Education Level:                   High School diploma or equivalent required

     

    Certification/Licensure:       Certification Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required within one year of hire.

               

    Experience Requirements:  Sterile Processing experience preferred

     

    Working Conditions: Exposure Category #1 – Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of them are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
