The Village of Maryville is seeking a full-time laborer in support of the Public Works Water Department. The department is responsible for several areas of the village’s operations including water, sewer, and parks. The position will report to the Superintendent of the Water Department. This position performs skilled and unskilled tasks including but not limited to:
? Read and replace water meters and radio devices
? Flush and maintain hydrants
? Repair system components to maintain water, sewer, and stormwater system assets
? Install water services to new and existing structures
? Carpentry
? Safely operate vehicles and equipment such as tractors, mowers, backhoes, track loaders,
mini-excavators, hydro-excavator, sewer jetting machinery
? Plow and salt roads during winter emergencies to assist Street Department Operations
? Fill potholes
? Repair roads from Water Department Operations
? Shovel snow and apply de-icing chemicals to village owned properties
Candidates for this position must have graduated from high school or have earned a graduate equivalent diploma (GED). Preferred candidates should have relevant experience in at least one area of the department's responsibility and should have knowledge of how to care for tools and equipment. They should be comfortable engaging with residents and maintaining a positive attitude when representing the Village. Candidates should have a good driving record and valid driver’s license. The selected candidate will be required to obtain a Class A CDL Driver’s license with additional endorsements as required. This position is part of a rotating on-call schedule which requires work outside of regular working hours requiring immediate action and response. The starting hourly probation wage is $23.40 per hour. After a 90-day probation period and successfully obtaining a Class A Driver’s license the hourly wage will increase to $26.00 per hour.
This position is 40 hours per week and is eligible for benefits including paid time off, retirement, and health insurance in accordance with the Articles of Agreement between The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 520c and the Village of Maryville.
