     Job Description
    Human Resources Assistant
     
     
    Role: Responsible for assisting the HR Team and Strategy in all facets of human resources including employee relations, payroll, compensation, recruitment, record keeping and benefits.
    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
        Creates and maintains human resources data and reports on HRIS system such as status reports, compensation analysis reports, termination reports, etc. Update and maintain monthly statistics reports, various annual report and year-end HR reporting. Assists VP of Human Resources on projects as assigned.
        Serves as backup payroll administrator by training for and practicing in submitting payroll in the absence of the Employee Services Representative.
        Maintains and routinely audits Company-owned personnel files and employment law postings for accuracy and adherence to established guidelines and applicable federal and state laws.
        Assists with entry level recruitment including phone screens and setting up potential interviews as directed by the recruitment specialist and or leadership team.
        Assists with pre-employment screenings such as criminal background, credit investigations, drug testing, and pre-employment testing.
        Assists with new employee orientation and coordinating new employee paperwork. Assists with annual benefits enrollment processes. Assists HR Department in coordinating training programs throughout the year and at various branch locations.
        Other job-related duties as assigned.
    Performance Measurements:
    1. Provide informed professional assistance to others in the organization as requested.
    2. Effectively communicate with employees, applicants, and others in person, by phone, by letter, and by email.
    3. Maintain accurate employee information to document personnel actions and provide information for payroll.
    4. Accurately maintain human resource reports including monthly statistic reports, annual reports and assigned year-end HR report.
    5. Maintain files, forms and database information associated with personnel, benefits, general information and recruiting.
    6. Maintain an understanding of applicable regulations including DOL, EEOC, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA and other Human Resource laws.
    Knowledge and Skills:
    Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.
    Education (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
    Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
    Other Skills Strong skills with MS Office programs (Word/Excel/Powerpoint). Experience with employee relations, recruiting and or payroll/accounting strongly preferred.
