    Financial Recovery Clerk

    RoleTo assist the Financial Recovery Department with member inquiries and collection processes. Updates and creates departmental reports on a designated basis.
    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
    45% Assists department by providing clerical support in the following areas: assisting members in person or via phone; assisting Financial Recovery team members as needed; assisting with department files, and scanning. Ordering of supplies when needed. Processing collection related correspondence as needed. Educate members on beneficial products and services.
    40% Prepares and maintains reports as directed by management. Acts as back up by preparing and filing Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) claims when necessary. Updates and maintains various reports and tracking modules.
    10% Researches and analyzes historical data on past due accounts.
    5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.
    Performance Measurements:
    1. To ensure timely contact with members regarding credit union matters relevant to department.
    2. To maintain accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity.
    3. To prepare and maintain reports in an accurate and timely fashion.
    4. To maintain a working knowledge of the credit union's loan standards. To adhere to provisions as set forth in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and insure assigned collection activity is always within credit union policy and all relevant regulations.
    5. To provide informed, professional assistance and support to all members and associates, to troubleshoot and resolve inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.
    Knowledge and Skills:
    Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.
    Education A high school education or GED.
    Interpersonal Skills Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
    Other Skills Must have good oral and written communication skills.
    Proficient with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word and Excel)
    Proficient with 10-key calculator, typewriter and keyboard skills.
    Intermediate math skills. Must be capable of calculations involving decimals, percentages and fractions.
    Work Environment Work occasionally involves exposure to dust; local travel and time spent outside.
